ENGEL Technology

The latest generation of ENGEL swing compressor technology

The world-famous Sawafuju swing motor

Originally invented by Dipl. Eng. Heinrich Dölz, the swing compressor was further developed and manufactured for decades by SAWAFUJI Electric Co. It operates in resonance with the mains frequency (Europe 50 Hz). Parameters such as battery voltage, ambient and cooling compartment temperature optimize the operation of the control electronics, which supply the hermetically sealed swing compressor with the generated rectangular voltage, whose thrust piston is rigidly connected to the coil of a permanently dynamic swing drive.

With the third-generation compressors and control electronics (K2 technology), ENGEL maintains its lead in the construction of mobile cooling devices: in design, reliability, performance, and efficiency. The swing compressor proves its decisive advantage over conventional designs in demanding mobile applications.

Special features:

  • High efficiency – enabled by advantageous application of the frequency phenomenon power factor 1.4
  • Minimal power consumption – now further reduced by 25% through K2 technology
  • Low starting current – excludes overload during battery operation and improves energy balance
  • High product safety – simple construction, strict quality requirements, and years of experience keep the susceptibility to faults of the maintenance-free motor unusually low
  • Position-independent – flawless operation at full power at inclinations up to 30 degrees
  • Reverse polarity protection – standard equipment with reverse polarity protection
  • Light and quiet – further reduction of noise level and weight achieved through K2 technology
